Wednesday, May 13, 2015 was a wonderful day at Glen Arden as many of the residents and staff helped Martin Hession celebrate his 100th birthday in conjunction with his family and friends from the Goshen community. Martin is an “original” resident at Glen Arden, having moved in almost 19 years ago when Glen Arden first opened and is much beloved by all who have come to know him.
The celebration included: a blessing from Father Peter Heasley (one of the priests at The Church of St. John the Evangelist in Goshen), the opening of gifts from Fordham University (Martin’s alma mater), a reading by Martin’s niece of the proclamation from Kyle Roddey (the Mayor of Goshen) declaring May 13th as Martin Francis Hession Day in the Village of Goshen, entertainment by Michelle Gately & Mark Gargiulo, as well as cake and lots of hugs and well wishes. Martin plans on spending the next few months wearing his Fordham Rams baseball hat and teaching himself Italian while communicating with his cousins in Ireland via Facebook.
