GOSHEN, N.Y. (March 1, 2016) — The Glen Arden Continuing Care Retirement Community, will host a free “Dinner with the Doctor: All about Joint Replacement” buffet lecture with Dr. John McLaughlin on Thursday, March 31 at 6 p.m. in Glen Arden’s Rhinebeck Room.
Dr. McLaughlin will discuss when and why one would consider joint replacement as well as what to expect in the recovery process.
Dr. McLaughlin, medical director of the St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital Center for Joint replacement, specializes in the treatment of arthritis of the knee, hip and shoulder (including total joint replacement), sports medicine (including arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction) and fracture management. His practice philosophy is to maximize non-surgical treatment prior to considering surgery. When surgery is necessary, minimally invasive techniques are preferred.
Dr. McLaughlin has worked in the Hudson Valley for more than 15 years and is a partner at Orthopedic Associates of Dutchess County.
A graduate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. McLaughlin completed his orthopedic residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He completed a total joint/sports medicine fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Dr. McLaughlin is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons (ABOS), a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and a member of the American Association of Knee and Hip Surgeons. He is the author and co-author of several articles in peer-reviewed orthopedic journals, including the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and the Journal of Shoulder Surgery.
Dr. McLaughlin has served as the team physician for the Cornwall High School Green Dragons. He was also the team physician for the Hudson Valley Fort of the Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL).
