Glen Arden is part of national event to promote healthy lifestyles for older adults
GOSHEN, N.Y. (April 18, 2017) – The Glen Arden Continuing Care Retirement Community will join an estimated 1,000 groups to celebrate the 24th annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day on Wednesday, May 31 as an official host site.
Glen Arden will hold a variety of events centering on health and fitness and join an estimated 100,000 seniors nationwide to help promote active, healthy lifestyles through physical fitness, good nutrition and preventive care.
This year’s theme is “With Movement…There’s Improvement.”
According to Sulekha Zaug, Glen Arden’s director of recreation, “Our offering of classes and healthy refreshments is a wonderful opportunity for seniors to make, renew and revitalize their commitment to live healthier lives through better health and fitness.”
Sulekha said the morning will begin with a seated exercise class at 9:30 a.m., followed by an outdoor scavenger hunt.
At 11 a.m., a Balance and Fall Prevention Workshop will be offered and will feature useful information, tips, and exercises to keep seniors healthier.
Door prizes will be available and healthy refreshments will be served.
