GOSHEN, N.Y. (Oct. 5, 2016) — The Glen Arden Continuing Care Retirement Community’s recent financial planning series is an example of the community’s commitment to regular educational programming designed to increase knowledge and awareness in special topics.
The first seminar, “Estate Planning and Tax Benefits of Continuing Care Retirement Communities,” was presented by Attorney Austin DuBois of Blustein, Shapiro, Rich & Barone LLP. Topics included demystifying trusts and Medicaid in addition to general estate planning. Specifically, DuBois discussed revocable and irrevocable trusts, long-term care and how to pay for it, and the top five estate planning mistakes.
The second seminar, “Medicare Made Simple,” was presented by: Megan Brady of Senior Insurance Associates. She discussed when to enroll in the different parts of Medicare and avoiding penalties and prescription drug policies. As part of her in-depth presentation, Brady also explained when to look at new options and the differences of the supplemental plans.
The third seminar was “Wealth Preservation Strategies,” presented by Deborah DeMatteo of 1015 Associates. She spoke about maximizing Social Security income, asset protection and money management.
