GOSHEN, N.Y. — The Glen Arden Continuing Care Retirement Community will host a free “Dinner with the Doctor: Coming to Grips with Arthritis of the Hand” buffet lecture with Dr. Gina Del Savio on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. in Glen Arden’s Rhinebeck Room.

 

The program is the newest offering in the series of Glen Arden Health and Wellness presentations by the area’s leading doctors and surgeons.

 

Dr. Del Savio, a member of the St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital (SLCH) Orthopedic Department, will discuss the issues related to arthritic hands and current treatment modalities.

 

Dr. Del Savio is board-certified in both orthopedic surgery and hand Surgery with membership in both the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons AAOS and American Society for Surgery of the Hand ASSH. She has been an active member of the Medical Executive Committee at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital since 2001 and currently serves as SLCH’s associate chief medical officer at SLCH. She has also served as a member of the St. Luke’s Cornwall Foundation Board.

 

Dr. Del Savio attended the University Of Vermont College of Medicine after graduating from Brown University. She completed her orthopedic residency at New York Medical College’s Westchester and New York campuses. Later, she completed a fellowship in hand and microsurgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center before establishing Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Orange County with Dr. Barry Hyman in 1996.

 

Her special interests include repetitive disorders, trauma and degenerative conditions of the hand, wrist and elbow. Dr. Del Savio is published in American Orthopedic and Related Research and has a chapter on congenital hand deformities in the Principles of Orthopedics textbook. She has presented papers at national Orthopedic and Hand Society meetings.
