Goshen, N.Y. (May 21, 2014) – Glen Arden, Elant’s Continuing Care Retirement Community, will host its next “Dinner with the Doctor” lecture and dinner on Monday, June 9 at 6 p.m. in Glen Arden’s Rhinebeck Room. Dr. Inderpal Singh, Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center, will provide an overview of congestive heart failure, a weakness of the heart that leads to a buildup of fluid in other areas of the body such as the lungs, legs, etc.
A graduate of Armed Forces Medical College in India, Dr. Singh completed his residency in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College/Westchester Medical Center, where he went on to become Chief Medical Resident, Fellow in Cardiology and later, Assistant Professor of Medicine. Dr. Singh is Board-certified in Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology.
“According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, roughly 5.1 million Americans suffer from heart failure,” said Maureen Torelli, Vice President and Executive Director of Glen Arden. “Given the commonality of this condition, we feel it’s extremely important to educate the community about congestive heart failure, including risk factors, causes, signs/symptoms and treatment. Our goal is to provide education and resources that will ultimately improve the community’s overall health and well-being.”
